ABB is seeking a Lead Mechanical Axle Designer to effectively and proactively complete 3D/2D designs as assigned to achieve a high level of accuracy and design for manufacturability, through the utilization of industry assembly knowledge, experience and machining best practices. You will work as part of our Discrete Automation and Motion team, the first major global industrial robotics manufacturer to produce robots in the United States. Print job advertisement Tasks: Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: - Lead the Development of 3D/2D concepts and final designs (mechanical and process focused), on various types of equipment (press stations, in-process test machines, fixtures, pallet assemblies). - Lead and support layout and detail personnel to project completion. - Lead and mentor less experienced designers and detailers. - Ensure adherence to established customer specifications. - Ensure utilization of ABB internal processes and procedures - Actively perform to project schedule and budget requirements. - Customer request for quote, vendor quotations, ABB proposal, ABB cost estimates, ABB standard solution offerings,previous things gone right/things gone wrong, R&M data, customer / industry specifications, etc. - Historically will travel bi-monthly 1-2 days for customer design review meetings. Requirements: Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience in machine design or automotive assembly OR - Associate's Degree and 7 years of experience in machine design or automotive assembly OR - High School Degree or GED and 9 years of experience in machine design or automotive assembly. Preferred Qualifications: - 2 years of axle experience. - 10 years of experience in machine design in fields related to automotive assembly. - Ability to meet project schedules and work within ABB project team or as an individual. - Ability to meet project budgets, meet customer satisfaction and minimize rework due to engineering errors.
