General Summary: Deploys the release of new technologies as well as designs, installs, configures, maintains and performs system integration testing of operating systems, related utilities, applications and hardware. Responsible for troubleshooting server problems as reported by users. Researches, evaluates and recommends software and hardware products. Supports application access and electronic messaging services, and maintains a secure systems environment. Provides new hardware specifications based on application needs and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: * Provides technical diagnosis, execute performance tuning, system optimization and make recommendations on design improvements to enterprise software and systems * Supports maintaining the integrity, structure, performance, capacity, and security of the server environment * Troubleshoots application errors or applications not operating, isolates problems from symptoms, assists with determining solutions or alternatives and implementing a resolution; if problem is user error then improve user instructions or train for better understanding * Works with different functional areas to test new features, develop best practices, implement new enhancements, and set future goals as required by business processes * Act as system analyst to evaluate requests for enhancements and determine potential impacts with the current system design/configuration * Ensures that all development and/or corrective software has been fully tested and documented in accordance with current departmental standards and procedures * Manages and maintains database operations of Microsoft SQL Server * Provides on-call support to troubleshoot and resolve enterprise application issues * Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed on the network * Assists personnel of other departments as a computer support resource * Assists in providing computer/network support relating to software problems reported by users * Maintains an adequate level of knowledge of operating system and application software being used to providehigh levels of support to users * Participates in an on-call rotation for emergencies outside of business hours * Performs other duties as assigned to meet department objectives Formal Education and certification: * Bachelor s degree in Information Technology or related area * VMWare Certified Professional (VCP6-DCV) or higher certification preferred * Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE: Server Infrastructure) certification preferred Knowledge and experience: * 5+ years server operating system administration experience, including the latest versions of: * Microsoft Windows Server required * Including Active Directory, BitLocker, DFS, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, etc. * Linux server (Debian, Red Hat) highly desired * 5+ years enterprise systems experience scoping, engineering, implementing, supporting and upgrading, including experience with the latest versions of some or all of the following: * Cisco Email Security (Ironport) * Dell KACE * DSI dcLINK, MEP * EMC Avamar, Data Domain, SourceOne, and general disaster recovery practices * Microsoft Exchange, IIS, SharePoint, SQL Server * Linux/Apache/MySQL/PHP * Oracle Agile, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne * RSA DLP * SolarWinds Orion, NPS * Sophos Endpoint Protection, SafeGuard Encryption * VMware AirWatch MDM, View, vCenter, vSphere Personal Attributes: * Ability to keep pace with the changing information technology landscape * Proven analytical skills and problem solving skills * Proven ability to prioritize, and manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines * Strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) to work effectively with multi-cultural teams and other staff * Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel * Fluent in Japanese or Spanish languages preferred Travel: Up to 10% annually; international travel Availability: Regular business hours Monday through Friday; after-hour and weekend work, as needed The above information on this description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed.
