Job Introduction Create new, innovative product- & technology ideas for mechatronic systems and lead the technical content of Magna Powertrain's innovation projects for the Driveline Systems Group from the first idea until final verification of the innovation project, with leadership support from the Department Manager - Engineering Innovation NA. Major Responsibilities Lead the overall technical content of innovation projects within the framework of MPT's innovation process. Create new and innovative product and technology ideas for mechatronic systems and components. Create and award intellectual property rights to position the business for sustainable competitive advantage against our competition. Support Product Management by creating the basic information for the innovation project as defined in the innovation process (MCA's / Base values / Stretch targets) Support the preparation of the agreement on innovation project targets with Product Management Facilitate collaboration and teamwork to insure innovation process yields product designs that improve MPTs competitive position in the market. Support the transfer of proven technologies, post innovation process, into the Architecture groups for inclusion in future product offerings. Supports the principles of the Magna Employee's Charter and the other relevant policies. Other duties as assigned by MPT leadership. Extremely high level of creativity, innovative spirit and also analytical ability. High level of verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to manage technical teams. High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others and to motivate employees. Knowledge of inter-departmental relationships and product/program objectives. Work Experience 0 - 5 years in automotive driveline engineering required, with cross functional experiences preferred. Technical background required (including strong knowledge of automotive engine, transmission, and driveline products), as well as a desire to positively affect company profitability and long term sustainability. Training and experience in sophisticated, methods and techniques of design and development are recommended. Work Environment Office environment; 20% travel.
