Position Description: The Data/Systems Analyst will participate in the overall solutions for applying business needs to technical applications within the Data Warehouse area and be involved with various aspects of the requirements design process. Will contribute and provide significant contributions in the design, coding, testing, support and debugging of new software enhancements to existing software. May define and document internal and external user interfaces, support system, and data requirement clarification and definition as well as support prototyping activities that will validate business requirements, solution definition and minimize risk. Will work directly with the business users and the application development team to assist in design, quality assurance, test strategy and risk identification/mitigation. Principal Accountabilities: Ability to apply logic to existing systems in order to integrate data from multiple sources into a Data Warehouse Participate in data decisions for transitions from source to Staging to ODS to EDW Develop and document requirements for data warehouse enhancements, including but not limited to ETL source to target mapping, reporting requirements and data quality test cases and detailed data analysis. Understands company goals and practices and applies them when resolving a variety of problems. Ability to work under general instructions on new work; uses judgment and creativity and sound technical knowledge to obtain and recommend solutions May interface with senior management to convey information Influence customer requirements to balance between what's being asked versus what's right for a world class financial and IT institution, and find the right compromise Negotiates to resolve customer issues by seeking win-win solutions that add value to the customer Conceptual and logical modeling Support prototyping activities that will validate business requirements and solution definition Ability to apply general organizational knowledge of the business and systems processes in problem analysis Makes a commitment to ensure that a customer's needs are met by taking personal responsibility for service and quality. Understands how our financial client operates and the interactions between departments and customer groups Minimum Requirements: Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence background Experience with Oracle databases Proficient in Oracle PL/SQL, SQL tuning, data modeling, etc Knowledge of Cognos reporting, Datastage and SAS analytics Knowledge of mainframe processing and file structures Flexible to changing requirements and able to work in a rapid-development environment Technical leadership Uses several analytical techniques to break apart complex problems into component parts Strong communication skills, written and spoken Comfortable working independently, but has experience working in a team environment Ability to ready, write, speak and understand English required Possess knowledge of dimensional modeling skills at the conceptual, logical, and physical levels, Natural problem solver: can navigate "grey areas to unify stakeholders toward a clear vision Empowered to take initiative to act and make a difference without waiting until it is too late.
