OpTech is seeking an experienced Sr. Analyst/COGNOS Lead Developer - Direct Hire, Detroit MI Position Objectives: Lead a team of Cognos Developers to create and deliver Cognos Framework and Reports effectively and on time Collaborate with internal business clients and the Data Architect to gather BI requirements Design and build BI and reporting solutions against Dimensional and Relational databases that satisfy all functional and technical requirements. Analyze and review complex object and data models and the metadata repository in order to create BI and reporting solutions Work with various levels of project managers, data modelers, DBAs, and system administrators to identify potential problem areas and provide innovative solutions. Serve as an expert for Cognos software development who can advise team on best practices, capabilities and limitations, workarounds and extendibility Act as SME to team in the plan, design, and delivery of BI and reporting solutions Assess existing Cognos code and determine refactoring. Advice on the application of standards/methodology practices to the project. Mentor the BI team in advanced BI skills Qualifications & Experience: Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Minimum of 8 years of Cognos experience in developing and deploying Cognos Framework and Cognos report Has extensive experience with Cognos 8.x and 10.x Experience and expertise Developing and maintaining the Cognos Framework Experience developing operational and management reports from relational databases and data warehouses. Ability to lead a team of Cognos Developers Automotive Lending or Financial Services industry experience desired Skills & Knowledge: Good communication skills are essential. Proven experience with SQL using SQL Developer Solid design, coding, testing and debugging skills Strong analytical and good communications skills Experience with Cognos tool set and Cognos Framework Ability to develop Cognos guidelines, standards and methodology Should be familiar with: Windows, Unix/Linux, PL/SQL, Shell Scripting Experience with analytical tools (R, SPSS, and/or SAS) a plus. Experience administering Cognos security groups and accounts Experience in deploying Cognos’ multilingual reporting options.
