Job Description
SME is seeking an Account Representative to work in Events Sponsorships in our Dearborn, MI location. We are seeking an experienced sales professional to engage sponsors with the half-million manufacturing practitioners SME influences annually by reaching a targeted and loyal audience of event attendees, subscribed readers and active members.
Summary Statement of Responsibilities:
The Media Sponsorship position will be responsible for identifying, developing and retaining potential sponsors and advertisers as part of an effort to generate new revenue streams that exist between SME Events and ME Media. This sales role is designed to support products and packages that exist within and across both ME Media and Events. The applicant must excel in verbal and written communication, digital media, media metrics, event sales and customer service.
Major Functions:
Responsible for creating, developing and selling fully integrated sponsorships with local, regional and national clients/markets and develop effective pursuit strategy to secure sponsorships.
Maintain and grow current exhibitor base participation at regional events by identifying needs and areas of opportunity, increasing their awareness of sponsorship products and packages and ultimately enhancing their overall participation.
Work collaboratively with ME Media sales to identify areas of opportunity and growth.
Complete understanding of all media and sponsorship opportunities and rates, as well as how to present them to prospects to suit their specific needs.
Established ability to build and cultivate relationships, and influence strategies and techniques for high level corporate executives and other influential decision makers within key accounts.
Uncover and identify new business opportunities and new client relationships by utilizing various sales strategies, including but not limited to, prospecting, research, cold calls, site visits, attending events, and outside sales calls/regional business trips.
Partner with internal departments (e.g. Events, Sponsorship, ME Media, Membership, marketing, digital community relations, etc.) to develop/create partnership proposals, successfully negotiate contracts and execute programs that support sponsorship programs and its elements.
Sustained development and management of sponsor relationships with a focus on the creation of plans which accomplish strategic objectives and a measurable return on investment.
Maintains professionalism when communicating with internal and external contacts serving as a direct liaison between the SME and all assigned sponsor constituents as well as effectively communicating client needs to the Sponsorship Activation team to ensure complete success.
Achieving sales revenue goals through productive prospecting and deal closing activities.
Utilizing and providing excellent interpersonal and service skills to initiate, build, and nurture strategic/mutually beneficial relationships with clients and partners to drive additional revenue generation
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education, skills and experience requirements:
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Business, Communications, Marketing or equivalent work experience required
3+ years of professional experience required, with two (2) years related experience in media, digital, web, or direct sales. Background in advertising or sponsorship sales would be a plus.
Detailed oriented with exceptional organizational skills and an ability to handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven interpersonal skills
Ability to exercise sound business judgment generating effective solutions quickly and/or raising issues to management as necessary
Team player spirit with an exceptional customer service attitude
Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Standard office environment.
National travel required, including but not limited to business trips for duration of up to one week.
Must be able to work flexible hours including some weekends and evenings
