American Axle and Manufacturing, Inc. is a world leader in the manufacture, engineering, validation and design of driveline systems, chassis systems and forged products for trucks, buses, sport utility vehicles and passenger cars.Currently, this Tier 1 automotive components supplier needs a talented individual to fill the role of Senior Product Engineer CVJ or Lead Engineer CVJ (dependent on experience) in Detroit, MI. Primary responsibilities are related to the design, validation, and release activities for propeller shafts and constant velocity joints. Key Responsibilities include:Plan, initiate, and track engineering design projects related to constant velocity joints.Develop, validate, and release constant velocity joint designs.Coordinate design analysis process.Determine root cause and make corrective action recommendations.Participate in managing engineering project budget.Coordinate prototype builds for all applicable design changes.Provide Bill of Materials and technical information in support of cost estimating.Present written and technical communication including professional presentations to customers.Provide design recommendations and technical support for constant velocity joints to Application Engineers.Provide technical direction to CAD designers, manufacturing/process engineers, suppliers, purchasing, analysis and test engineers, other product engineers, etc.Coordinate testing and DVP and R development.Coordinate design and testing of boots and seals.
